09:01 | July 09, 2026 Early this morning, law enforcement officers visited the apartment of opposition Mother Armenia party member and opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP candidate Aregnaz Manukyan. Manukyan posted a video demanding that these law enforcement officers introduce themselves and explain why they entered her apartment, but her smartphone was taken away.

Later, Manuk Sukiasyan, head of the opposition Mother Armenia faction of the Yerevan city council, wrote on social media: “A few minutes ago, a member of the Mother Armenia party board, Aregnaz Manukyan, was taken into custody. Presumably, she is being arrested.” Aregnaz Manukyan was detained for court appearance as part of a criminal proceeding.

Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed about this by the Investigative Committee of Armenia, referring to the search of Manukyan’s house and her detention. But this is not the first case. In the early morning of June 12, investigators of the Investigative Committee had arrived at Aregnaz Manukyan’s apartment to search it.

At that time, the Investigative Committee reported that an investigation was being carried out within the framework of a criminal proceeding. The latter is related to the well-known case of espionage and high treason. To note, Andranik Tevanyan, the second number on the PAP electoral list and the chairman of the Mother Armenia party, is under arrest in connection with this high treason case.
