While Lamine Yamal was leading Spain to victory over France in the World Cup football semifinal, two intruders attempted to rob the Spain star’s house in Esplugues de Llobregat near Barcelona, Euronews reports. The attempted robbery was thwarted thanks to the swift actions of the footballer’s private security service.
Using surveillance cameras, security guards spotted two hooded individuals climbing over the wall and immediately alerted the police. Noticing they were being watched, both suspects fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Catalan police are now analyzing footage from the surveillance system in an effort to identify the suspects.
The incident occurred amid a series of recent burglaries in the same residential complex and the activity of organized gangs operating across various European countries and specifically targeting footballers’ homes.
