EU countries will extend temporary protection for Ukrainians until March 4, 2028. This is stated in a press release by the Council of the EU.
Temporary protection will be granted only to those who have fulfilled their military obligations to Ukraine and left the country legally, DW reports. However, this restriction will apply only to new applicants. It will not affect those who are already benefiting from temporary protection in EU countries.
Since March 2022, more than 4 million refugees from Ukraine have benefited from temporary protection in EU countries.
