YEREVAN. – Petros Makeyan, the leader of Democratic Fatherland Party, part of opposition Armenian National Congress, does not want to assess Republic Party leader’s refusal of his mandate and the possibility of the Republic Party leaving ANC, Petros Makeyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. One thing is clear for Petros Makeyan, if Republic Party leaves ANC the Congress will weaken.
“Armenian National Congress is a union of political forces and Republic is one of the main political forces, and if it leaves the Congress will weaken,” he said.
Earlier Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that the leader of Republic Party which is part of Armenian National Congress, Aram Sargsyan refused his mandate and did not exclude the option of leaving ANC.
Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission has issued the preliminary results of parliamentary elections. Five parties and one political bloc will be represented in the 131-seat National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia: Republican Party of Armenia – 44.05% (663,066 votes), Prosperous Armenia Party – 30.20% (454,684 votes), Armenian National Congress – 7.10% (106,910 votes), Heritage Party – 5.79% (87,095 votes), ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party – 5.73% (86, 296 votes), Orinats Yerkir Party – 5.49% (82,690 votes).
