Tehran warned a number of countries in the region amid the ongoing US strikes on Iran and announced possible retaliatory attacks. The corresponding statement was published on X by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei.

According to him, earlier the head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Brad Cooper, stated that a number of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Jordan had participated in military strikes against Iran.

"If this US claim is false, then these countries are obliged to officially deny it. In light of these circumstances, Iran is exercising its inherent and legitimate right to self-defense by striking US military bases and facilities located on the territory of these states; questions about the ‘motives of Iran’ are nothing more than an attempt to distort the logic and mislead," Baghaei said.

He emphasized that, under UN General Assembly Resolution No. 3314, these countries’ provision of their territories as a springboard to facilitate American attacks makes them accomplices and also constitutes a gross violation of the principle of good-neighborliness and Article 2 of the UN Charter.

It should be noted that the Gulf Cooperation Council includes six countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.
