Rostov-on-Don came under attack by Ukrainian drones on the night of July 27, killing two people and injuring another five, Rostov region governor Yuri Slyusar said. According to him, damage was recorded in three districts of the city — Zheleznodorozhny, Proletarsky, and Leninsky. Fires broke out on the grounds of a “private enterprise, warehouse facilities, and several private households.” Several cars also caught fire, and glazing was shattered in an apartment building and a social institution, Slyusar noted.

According to an analysis of footage from local residents conducted by Astra, the target of the nighttime attack was the Rostov Sea Commercial Port. In the morning, smoke was seen rising over its fourth cargo district. During the raid, one of the drones damaged a multi-story residential building on Beregovaya Street. The port in Rostov, despite being located on the Don River, is considered a seaport and is part of the Azov-Black Sea basin system. It handles international shipping, including opening and closing the state border for vessels flying foreign flags. Voyages from the port are carried out to countries in the Black Sea and Mediterranean basins.

Also last night, Ukrainian drones attacked Belgorod. During the raid, 12 people were injured, including two children, the Belgorod region operational headquarters reported. Several apartment buildings and more than 15 cars were damaged. In addition, a private house was partially destroyed. According to the local outlet Pepel, against the backdrop of the attack, an emergency power outage occurred in central Belgorod, street lighting went out, and homes lost water.

“Our city has simply been destroyed for the second week already. Not a word anywhere. It’s 1:20 a.m. now, our homes and cars are burning, people are getting out of their apartments through the windows. This is the city center. We’re terrified for the children, we have no strength left,” a local resident told Ostorozhno, Novosti. The operational headquarters, meanwhile, said that the threat of a drone attack remains.
