Pro-Iranian Shiite groups within the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” threatened Saudi Arabia with a “harsh response” in the event of any actions against them.

“We, the Islamic Resistance, clearly warn the Saudi regime: any reckless actions on your part will be met with a harsh response that will make you regret what you have done,” the statement said on behalf of the Shiite groups on their Telegram channel.

The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” refused to claim responsibility for the attempted attack on Saudi oil facilities, of which they were accused by the kingdom’s Ministry of Defense.

“These unfounded statements are merely an attempt to justify their inability to respond to the painful strikes by the Yemenis, which penetrated into the very heart of their infrastructure, caused by fear of what the next response from the Yemenis will be,” the statement said.

For its part, the Shiite military-political movement Ansar Allah (the Houthis), which rules in northern Yemen, said on Monday that it was the one that attacked facilities used to transport Saudi oil from the eastern fields to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea in the west of the kingdom.

Earlier on Monday, the kingdom’s Foreign Ministry said it reserved the right to respond to groups in Iraq which, it claims, attempted to strike oil facilities in the capital region and in eastern Saudi Arabia using drones.
