Shortly before midnight, a drone was found in the area of the Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany. According to BILD, an object of unknown mass with an explosive was also attached to it. Investigators believe it is an explosive device.

The drone with the explosives was lying in the immediate vicinity of a Ukrainian Antonov cargo plane.

German police have sent sappers to the scene and plan to destroy the drone with a controlled explosion. A remote-controlled robot sapper was involved in the process. It is still unknown whether an explosion was carried out.

After the drone was discovered, the aforesaid airport suspended flights until 1:55am. A cargo planes was forced to make a second go-around. Shortly afterwards, about 6 kilometers from the airport, at an altitude of 400 meters, it collided with an as yet unidentified object. The plane ultimately landed in Hanover, where minor damage was found to its front.

Police do not rule out that it was an act of sabotage.

A search is underway for the drone operator.
