The situation in the Caucasus may change as a result of the clash between Iran and the US, and Azerbaijan will be forced to change its position on the Ukrainian conflict, said Aleksei Chepa, deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

In an interview with Lenta.ru, Chepa added that Azerbaijan will not supply weapons to Ukraine.

Earlier, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had called the talks—in Kyiv—with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha "productive." According to him, Baku and Kyiv are "united by a strategic partnership based on the principles of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation."

"I think Azerbaijan will not become an arms supplier [to Ukraine]. It seems to me that the situation in the Caucasus will change somewhat in the near future. This is primarily related to the events of the Iranian-American conflict. And Azerbaijan, I think, will change its position, including on the Ukrainian issue,” Chepa noted.

Earlier, Bayramov had laid flowers at the monument to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the park of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv.
