Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: As expected, the authorities’ crowd-pleasing decision to make [mandatory] military service 1.5 years has led to a situation of inequality between those who [currently] serve for two and for one and a half years.
We were informed that those conscripted for two years, who were drafted before the passing of this law, are rebelling during [their military] service, and their parents are constantly staging protests at the government, the MoD.
To lighten the situation a little, according to our information, the MoD leadership has given these soldiers an additional 5-7 days of leave, but the dissatisfaction has not diminished with that. [Their] parents are demanding that their children also serve for one and a half years, but the MoD command has discussed and rejected this demand.
