The prosecutor's office of Armenia had reported Tuesday that the prosecutor had initiated a public criminal prosecution against second president Robert Kocharyan on Monday on charges of abuse of official authority, receiving a bribe in particularly large amounts, and laundering money in particularly large amounts.

The prosecutor's office has informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the statute of limitations for prosecuting Kocharyan has not expired.

The court on Thursday granted the motion to place Robert Kocharyan in pretrial detention for two months.
