The death toll from flash floods that hit Nepal on August 26 has risen to 1,355, the country's authorities said, EFE news agency reports Monday.

Earlier, 1,287 people were reported dead.

Also, about 5,000 people are still missing; among them are hundreds of foreigners. More than 21,000 people, including soldiers, are involved in search and rescue operations.

Nepal declared a national day of mourning on Monday, with flags on government buildings flying at half-mast.
