Researchers have taken another step toward solving the mystery of Noah's Ark in eastern Turkey, archaeologist Andrew Jones told Izvestia in an interview.

The latest findings at the Noah's Ark search site have revealed a ship-like object whose origins remain unknown.

They believe it could be the remains of Noah's Ark, which have eroded away and become buried beneath the soil, Jones said.

He added that a geologic radar scan of this object has revealed right angles, corridors and possible medium compartments, casting doubt on the theory that it is an ordinary rock fragment.

According to Jones, cartographer Ilhan Durupinar was the first to point to this place back in 1959, and its coordinates coincide with the description given in the Bible.

The researchers have already conducted GPS mapping and taken soil samples for examination.

Specialists from the US, Australia, Brazil, and Slovakia are also participating in the research.
