The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has fired on two US ships, eight tankers, and 10 intruding vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, Tasnim News Agency reported Wednesday, citing an IRGC statement.

"In response to the aggression and atrocities of the US terrorist army, which attacked five Iranian tankers in the Persian Gulf, the heroic IRGC Navy attacked two American ships and eight tankers in the area, causing serious damage to them," the Telegram channel says.

According to the IRGC, another 10 ships were targeted because they had attempted to pass through the restricted and unsafe zone of the Strait of Hormuz with the support of the US. The IRGC emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is under Iranian control.

The Central Command of the US Armed Forces reported earlier in the day that five Iranian tankers carrying crude oil were destroyed after two attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to attack an American warship with ballistic missiles.
