The Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia on Tuesday ruled in favor of the prosecution's appeal against a verdict of the criminal court of first instance of general jurisdiction.

Accordingly, the criminal case against the person accused of transferring—in exchange for payment—information threatening the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and external security of Armenia to a member of a foreign special service has been sent to the competent court of first instance for retrial.

The aforesaid person is Ashkhen Aleksanyan, a former employee of the Armenian foreign ministry, who is charged with high treason.
