The Armavir provincial court of Armenia found Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II's brother, Gevorg Nersisyan, and his son, Hambardzum Nersisyan, guilty in the charges against them.
An additional court hearing date has been set for October 15. A public criminal prosecution was launched against Gevorg and Hambardzum Nersisyan under the Criminal Code article on obstructing the exercise of electoral rights, the work of the election headquarters, or the exercise of the free will of persons participating in the election.
They were arrested on November 2, 2025, placed in pretrial detention on November 3, and on November 29, their pretrial detention was extended for three months. But on February 17, 2026, the court commuted their pretrial detention to house arrest for a period of three months, bail in the amount of 1 million drams, and a travel ban .
On May 7, they were released from house arrest, and the court decided to apply administrative supervision on them.
