Concurso de Elegancia Costa del Sol 2026, the automotive elegance competition which brought together rare hypercars, hand-assembled unique cars, and classic cars of the pre-war era, ended in Marbella, Spain, and the Best of Show main prize went to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, reports Motorious.
One of the central participants of the event was Bugatti, which presented several unusual cars, including an experimental prototype with a naturally aspirated V16 engine.
The four-day event was run by the CAVËN company under the vision of the Piëch family. The main partner was Bugatti, which had prepared a display, presenting the development of the brand from serial models to experimental engineering developments.
One of the main exhibits was the unique F.K.P. Hommage, a car created as a tribute to the Bugatti Veyron. It was participating in this competition of motoring elegance for the first time. The Tourbillon hybrid hypercar was also participating in the motoring event for the first time, with a dynamic program that included road driving and a start on the race track. In addition, visitors were shown the Veyron La Finale and eight experimental models that reflected the technical evolution of the manufacturer.
Of particular interest was the Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster, equipped with a naturally aspirated V16 engine. This car served as a secret testbed for the powertrain that was considered for the future Veyron, but was ultimately not used. The prototype was shown to the public for the first time.
On the day of the exhibition, cars from Koenigsegg, Gordon Murray Automotive, Pagani, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, and Lamborghini gathered at the Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort. Among the most notable exhibits were the Lamborghini Aventador J, Morgan Midsummer, Zagato Twintail, Spyker C8 Aileron, Porsche 996 GT1, and the first copy of the McLaren P1. The Piëch family presented also a Porsche collection dedicated to the brand's participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
A 24-member international jury weighed design, history, engineering, uniqueness, and significance. Members came from institutions and events including Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Hagerty, the Petersen Automotive Museum, Ferrari Classiche, Italdesign, and Pininfarina.
In addition to the main prize, the jury also awarded prizes in several categories. The best hypercar was recognized as Koenigsegg Jesko, the best vintage supercar was Bugatti Veyron 16.4, and the best pre-war car was awarded to Hispano-Suiza Alfonso XIII. The Ferrari 250 S Vignale, which participated in the Mille Miglia race, won the motorsport car category. The Totem GT was recognized as the best car in the Fuera de Serie category.
The program, however, was not limited to the exhibition. On October 2, the participants traveled to the Ascari Race Resort racing complex in Ronda, where competitions, dynamic tests, and acceleration checks were held in the presence of jury members. Then the car owners arrived at Gibraltar Airport, which was temporarily closed for normal operations for the event. The participants conducted individual high-speed starts on the 1.5-kilometer runway.
The weekend closed with a black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony at a private villa in Marbella. Guests included Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac and creators such as Shmee150, The Stradman, and Tom Claeren. Organizers say the event is helping establish the Costa del Sol as a destination for collectible-car culture.
