A Ukrainian An-124 Ruslan cargo plane caught fire during landing in Japan, NHK reports.

At around 19:20 local time on Thursday, the fuselage of the cargo plane caught fire as it attempted to land on the runway at Chubu Centrair International Airport.

The incident closed the runway for 15 minutes.

But after a safety check, flights resumed, and the airport returned to normal operations.

Japan's ministry of transport is investigating the circumstances of this incident.
