Today’s decision to remand Samvel Karapetyan in custody once again proves that Armenia’s state institutions are carrying out Pashinyan’s orders, the Strong Armenia party said in a statement.

The statement reads:

“Today’s decision to remand Samvel Karapetyan in custody once again proves that Armenia’s state institutions are carrying out Pashinyan’s orders. Just a few days ago, Pashinyan publicly threatened opposition leaders who oppose Aliyev’s constitution, and today Samvel Karapetyan is being arrested again.

Aliyev is weakening Armenia from the outside, while Pashinyan is weakening it from within.

By having Samvel Karapetyan arrested again, Pashinyan is attempting to impose the adoption of Aliyev’s constitution through anti-democratic methods.

He did the same thing in 2025 and failed. At the time, Pashinyan had Samvel Karapetyan arrested for defending the Armenian Apostolic Church. However, Pashinyan failed to dismantle and destroy the Church.

Now Pashinyan will fail again. He will not be able to impose Aliyev’s constitution, because the Armenian people oppose it, and the united opposition will not yield to Pashinyan’s pressure or allow him to lead the country down the path of concessions.

In 2025, even while under arrest, Samvel Karapetyan rallied the people around the defense of Armenia’s national identity and independence. He will continue this struggle today, regardless of the obstacles in his way.

Together, we will say ‘NO’ to Aliyev’s constitution and ‘YES’ to preserving Armenia’s independence.”

Earlier today, a court ruled that Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, should be remanded in custody for one month.

The case was assigned to Judge Levon Petrosyan, and the court hearing continued throughout the night.

On the previous day, investigators from the Investigative Committee began searches at the apartments of Strong Armenia leader Samvel Karapetyan and Narek Karapetyan, head of the party’s parliamentary faction in the National Assembly, early in the morning.

The Investigative Committee said that searches were being conducted simultaneously at 65 addresses as part of a criminal investigation handled by its Main Department for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling.

Later, the Investigative Committee issued a statement saying that Electric Networks of Armenia had suffered damages amounting to AMD 64.5 billion. Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against Samvel Karapetyan and 35 other people, who have been detained.
