YEREVAN.- Armenia and Kazakhstan managed to establish friendly, partner relations over the last 20 years, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Armenia Ayimdoz Bozzhigitov said.

Speaking during a press conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenian-Kazakh diplomatic relations, the diplomat also pointed out high level visits.

“Armenia-Kazakhstan friendship dates back to the time of the Silk Road. In addition, Armenian Levon Mirzoyan, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan in 1937-1938, played a crucial role in the life of the country. In 1991, the Kazakh people gratefully marked the 100th anniversary of Mirzoyan. Several streets and schools are named after Mirzoyan in Astana,” he said.

Referring to the diplomatic relations between the two countries, the ambassador recalled that President Nursultan Nazarbayev participated in Karabakh talks in 1991.

A number of events dedicated to 20th anniversary of relations will be held in Armenia starting from Monday.
