Turkey will not delay the ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols for long even if it comes to realize that it will never receive any documents on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Ankara will ratify the protocols thereby settling historical issues, Larisa Alaverdyan, Secretary of the Heritage parliamentary faction, told reporters.
According to her, one can only smile at Turkey’s reaction to the verdict returned by the RA Constitutional Court.
In his turn, Hovhannes Sahakyan of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), believes that Turkey is seeking a pretext not to ratify the protocols, laying a blame on Armenia and showing the entire world that Armenia has allegedly failed the process. If the process is frozen, the sides will have to go back to the starting point, Sahakyan said. He does not rule out Turkey’s aggression.
NEWS.am reminds readers that the RA Constitutional Court confirmed the constitutionality of the Armenian-Turkish protocols on January 12. On January 19, the Turkish Foreign Office issues a statement critical of the verdict.
