January 28, 2010 RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated in International Conference on Afghanistan in London held under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UK Premier Gordon Brown and Afghan President Hamid Karzai. More than 70 foreign ministers and 10 heads of international organizations attended the event.

The participants issued a joint statement and reaffirmed international community’s readiness to assist the establishment of stability, security and democracy in Afghanistan, as well as prosperity and development of the country, RA MFA Press Service informed NEWS.am.

RA Foreign Minister met with the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and UK Minister of State for Europe Christopher Bryant on the sidelines of the conference.

Nalbandian and Bryant discussed bilateral, regional and international issues, as well as Armenia-EU cooperation. The officials touched upon recent developments in Karabakh peace process, Armenia-Turkey reconciliation and current situation in Northern Ireland. British Premier welcomed the efforts into the Armenia-Turkey relations’ normalization.
