YEREVAN. – Former chief of Armenia’s Presidential Staff, MP Karen Karapetyan ruled out the possibility of second President Robert Kocharyan running in the presidential elections to be held on February 18, 2013. Karapetyan stated this to news reporters during Saturday’s 14th special congress of the ruling Republican Party (RPA).

“My imagination simply is not enough to picture that. They [that is, Kocharyan, and RPA leader and serving President Serzh Sargsyan] are two friends and colleagues. They have passed through blood at the [Nagorno-] Karabakh war. They have had a shared history over the course of years, and they have a real opportunity to sit down together and reach an agreement,” Karen Karapetyan noted.
