YEREVAN. – Armenian presidential contender, opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU) Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan—who is recovering at hospital from a gunshot wound after a recent assassination attempt—is preparing to petition to the Constitutional Court, with a formal request to postpone—for two weeks—the presidential election that is slated for February 18. Hayrikyan himself told this Armenian News-NEWS.am

He noted that they are preparing to submit the petition on Friday and, now, they are waiting for his attorney to arrive in order to check some details.

Hayrikyan added, however, that he wants to note in his petition that he should have the right to withdraw his petition at any time, and depending on his health condition.

In the NSU leader’s words, his health is good at present, but his right hand still hurts. Also, it will become clear on Saturday as to when he will be discharged from hospital.

The presidential candidate wants to visit remote regions and meet with the voters, if, of course, his health permits.
