RA President Serzh Sargsyan received British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Miliband. In the course of the meeting the officials discussed Armenian-British relations and regional security issues. Armenia attaches great significance to the intensification of political dialogue, development of trade and economic relations with Great Britain and is interested in the enhancement of cooperation with UK in different spheres, Sargsyan emphasized. The parties expressed confidence that EU-launched Eastern Partnership project will open up great opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation. RA President thanked British Government for its assistance to Armenia since it gained independence.
Sargsyan and Miliband discussed issues on regional security, Armenia-Turkey reconciliation and Karabakh peace process. British FM welcomed RA Presidents’ efforts to normalize relations with Turkey and said Great Britain backs the process and is concerned with enhancement of peace in the region.
