Turkey is delaying the ratification of Armenian-Turkish protocols, hoping for pro-Azerbaijani tendencies in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, Giro Manoyan, Head of the Hay Dat (Armenian Cause) office, told a press conference on February 12. According to him, Turkey’s position on the RA Constitutional Court’s verdict is evidence of that state’s destructive attitude to the reopening of the Armenian-Turkish border. “Armenia must state a day earlier that Turkey has failed the reconciliation process and walk off the talks. The later Yerevan does it the more difficult it will be for it to withdraw from the process,” Manoyan said.

He admits that he did not understand the Armenian President’s statement that official Yerevan is ready to give more time to Turkey. Manoyan does not rule out that, on the threshold of the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Turkey will take one more step to thwart the process of international recognition of Armenian Genocide. Ankara may state that Turkey is going to ratify the protocols. He stated that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) (ARF(D)) has launched a signature-gathering campaign against the ratification of protocols. Manoyan believes the Armenian Parliament is unlikely to ratify the protocols before the Turkish Parliament does it.
