A scandal involving Azerbaijani delegate Elhan Suleymanov erupted during the meeting of the PACE Monitoring Committee held in Paris.
During the discussion on the results of Armenian presidential elections, Suleymanov harshly criticized both the election results and position of the PACE, the delegate himself told haqqin.az. However, Andreas Herkel who was chairing the meeting, interrupted Suleymanov not allowing him to end his speech.
Azerbaijani delegate left the hall as a sign of protest against the position of the chairman of the meeting.
Suleymanov also noted that the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE calls to make a report about the total violations and fraud to be presented during PACE plenary session to be held in Strasbourg this April. However, he did not mention the specific “violations” and “fraud” that he is going to discuss.
Apparently, it is one of the elements of Azerbaijani campaign launched on the eve of their own presidential election, aiming to discredit the objectivity of the European agencies in order to exclude the presence of observers.
