YEREVAN.- The procession to the Armenian Genocide Memorial organized by leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian kicked off in Armenia’s capital.
Addressing protesters at Liberty Square, Raffi Hovannisian said “our strength is unity”. He said Armenians became victims of the first genocide of the 20th century because they were not united.
The opposition leader noted that the Armenian people are moving toward the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide with the demand of compensation and return of the property to churches, but it is also necessary to establish relations with the neighboring country.
“If we continue to steal and kill in our country, what can we expect from others?” Hovannisian said.
“Let’s make it clear – we remember our forefathers and must return the lost homeland in the Eastern and Western Armenia. We will walk together and achieve great things. April 24 is the symbol of our lost homeland. Two years later, at the time of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, we must once again stand here, but with the rule of law,” he said.
