Murat Guztoklusu, Vice-Chairman of the Homeland Party (Turkey), compared the Armenian-Turkish protocols to Rogers’ project.

According to the Yenicag newspaper, Murat Guztoklusu pointed out that in late 1970s, after the Cyprus problem arose, Greece stopped being NATO’s military component and demanded that Ankara’s veto against Greece be overturned. “No Turkish Government agreed. It was not until the 1980 coup that Chief of Joint Staff and later Turkish President Ahmet Kenan Evren lifted the veto, and Greece was readmitted to NATO. Kenan Evren explained his step by the fact that General Rogers, as a serviceman, promised him that Greece would meet Turkey’s requirement, but Rogers’ promised remained unfulfilled. At present, the leaders of the ruling Justice and Development Party, who ignore the sad historical fact, believed U.S. President Barack Obama, and the point of the ‘occupation’ of Azerbaijani territories was not incorporated on the Armenian-Turkish protocols. Like Rogers’ project, the protocols signed with Armenia proved a fiasco for the country. Turkey has been entrapped by its own power,” Guztoklusu said.
