Moldovan parliamentary advocate Aurelia Grigoriu safely returned to Chisinau after a controversial speech in the Armenian parliament. She will hold a press conference on Monday, Moldovan Publika.TV reported.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Corman said that parliamentary commission on foreign policy will assess the statement of the ombudswoman Aurelia Grigoriu.

Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman said that the incident in Yerevan provoked by the statement of Moldova’s ombudswoman will be discussed during the visit of President Serzh Sargsyan planned for next week.

Previously, she said the statement is not a cause for a diplomatic scandal, and it will not affect  relations between Chisinau and Yerevan.

During the last week’s international forum in Yerevan, Grigoriu said “Armenia has occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories committing genocide against Azerbaijanis”. Then she deliberately locked herself in her room and refused to participate in the program following her provocative speech. Subsequently, numerous articles telling about Grigoriu who allegedly “was taken captive” and “was attacked by those wishing revenge” have appeared on the web.

Later the Center for Human Rights of Moldova submitted a letter to the Armenian ombudsman in which expressed regret about the incident.
