YEREVAN. – The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) can allow itself the “luxury” and appoint someone who is not a RPA member as the new prime minister.

Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan told the aforementioned to reporters on Friday.

“The Republican Party can appoint someone who will not be from RPA, but will be a politician.

“The PM’s resignation is proof that the government formation depends on the decision by the political majority and the President.

“I was uninformed [about the PM’s resignation]. It is a natural phenomenon because governments come, work, and go,” Ashotyan said, in particular.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan on Thursday offered his resignation to President Serzh Sargsyan, and the President approved the PM’s resignation.
