YEREVAN. – I do not think that the Prime Ministerial candidate will be from the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), the latter’s MP Stepan Margaryan told reporters on Friday.

He added that PM Tigran Sargsyan’s resignation was not unexpected.

“Just that yesterday [Thursday] was unexpected, since given our joint initiative, I was waiting for the resignation around the 20th of the month,” he noted.

The PAP MP also expressed a view that the PM’s resignation was a consequence of the actions by the four non-ruling-coalition parliamentary factions: Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage.
Margaryan added that what occurred is a result of domestic politics.

As for whether or not the four aforesaid forces may nominate a single PM candidate, the PAP deputy noted that they have a joint action plan, and the primary task is making structural changes in the country.  

The four non-ruling-coalition parliamentary factions were planning on holding 24-hour rallies and demand PM Tigran Sargsyan’s resignation. On Thursday, however, Tigran Sargsyan himself offered his resignation to President Serzh Sargsyan, and the President approved the PM’s resignation.
