YEREVAN. – The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia has not yet received a petition with respect to the termination of the parliamentary mandate of newly appointed Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

CEC Press Secretary Hermine Harutyunyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

We still have not received a [respective] record at this point,” she said.

Pursuant to the Armenian National Assembly regulations, a deputy’s parliamentary mandate terminates if the given MP is appointed to—or elected into—an office in a state-run or a local self-government agency, or a commercial organization.  

President Serzh Sargsyan on Sunday appointed now former National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan as Prime Minister of Armenia. And on Monday, Sargsyan introduced Abrahamyan to the Cabinet members.
