YEREVAN. – The Customs Union (CU) businessmen want to export to the European Union (EU) from Armenia. 

Ruling Republican Party (RPA) MP Gagik Minasyan, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, told the aforementioned to reporters on Friday.

He noted that no CU country works with the EU by way of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP)+ system, except for Armenia, which has expressed a wish to join the Eurasian Common Economic Space (CES), which will be the successor to the Russia-led CU.     

“Therefore the commercial enterprises, which represent the other CES countries, can easily establish their production in and export from Armenia. I am aware that several enterprises already have such plans,” Minasyan stated.
The RPA MP added that the Eurasian integration is in Armenia’s best interests.  

“Armenia, still not being a CU a member, acquires Russian [natural] gas at an advantageous price; it’s not only low, but also stable. And having relatively long-term forecasts is important for each business,” Gagik Minasyan concluded.
