Armenia President extends condolences on Constantine Orbelyan’s passing

YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan issued a message of condolence to the Orbelyan family. 

Sargsyan extended his sympathies on the passing of a great musician of our days, People’s Artist of the USSR and Armenia, Knight of the Honor and St. Mesrop Mashtots Orders, Constantine Orbelyan.

“Maestro Orbelyan has greatly contributed to the development and dissemination of the contemporary Armenian art of music.

“He headed the State Variety Orchestra of Armenia for thirty-six years bringing a new quality and vigor to the orchestra.

“His songs were always loved and they became the property of the people.

“Constantine Orbelyan’s creations will always remain in the pages of the history of the Armenian art of music and in the recollections of the generations,” the Armenian President’s letter of condolence specifically reads.
