YEREVAN. – For the time being, the teachers may not participate in the funded pension system, Armenia’s Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan told reporters on Wednesday.
As per Ashotyan, funded pension deductions will not be made—starting from the salaries for April—from the salaries of those Education and Science Ministry employees who submit an application with such a request.
The minister also stated that he received the teachers who on Tuesday had protested outside the Government Building No. 3, which also houses the Ministry of Education and Science.
He added that the pension-related form, which the preceding government had set up, can now be considered replaced with new realities.
“[Newly appointed] PM Hovik Abrahamyan presented the matters on behalf of the new government. [And] his announcement follows that the mandatory funded pension deductions have been de facto suspended,” Armen Ashotyan stressed.
