Istanbul Armenian Daron Acemoglu, who is among the world’s top twenty economists, noted that the media pressure in Turkey will reflect on the country’s economy.
Acemoglu told Radikal daily of Turkey that there is a link between freedom of the press and economic development. In his words, there can be an economic success solely in a stable political situation.
“The investors may not immediately leave the country once the pressure starts to be exerted on the media, but such developments will have a negative impact.
“The media pressure in Turkey, for example, is a signal whose consequences will be the profound economic losses,” the Armenian economist stated.
