YEREVAN. – Portugal’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Mário Godinho de Matos, on Tuesday presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President congratulated the newly appointed ambassador and wished him success in his diplomatic mission in Armenia.
Sargsyan stressed that Armenia is interested in deepening the interstate relations with Portugal and strengthening the friendly relations between the two nations.
“It is our wish that Portugal have its permanent place among the friends of Armenia. I am confident that you will do everything in that direction,” the President told the diplomat.
The interlocutors expressed a conviction that there are great potential and necessary conditions for the development of Armenian-Portuguese bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation.
Serzh Sargsyan and the Portugal ambassador also underscored the need to expand the legal and contractual framework between Armenia and Portugal.
In turn, Ambassador Mário Godinho de Matos assured that he will do everything possible to deepen the Armenian-Portuguese relations and develop the active cooperation between the two countries.
