YEREVAN. – The Armenian people are not solely participants in the Great Patriotic War—in World War II—, but one of the nations that bestowed victory.
Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) Central Committee Bureau member Ruben Tovmasyan stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Thursday.
In his words, Armenia, with a population of 1.5 million at the time, gave 600,000 soldiers to the war, and around half of them sacrificed their lives to save the world from fascism.
According to the CPU official, the Great Patriotic War showed the spirit of the Armenian nation and, owing to this, Armenians should walk proudly around the world.
Ruben Tovmasyan also recalled the heroic liberation of the City of Shushi, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
“This is also one of the Armenian nation’s brilliant triumphs,” he concluded with pride.
