YEREVAN. – The Administrative Court of Armenia ruled in favor of civil activist Vahagn Minasyan’s counterclaim, and ordered the Police to pay 200,000 drams (approx. $486) to the activist, Minasyan himself told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The Administrative Court rejected the Police claim on the grounds of lack of factual evidence, and ruled in favor of our counterclaim, obligating the Police to pay 200,000 drams; this is certainly for the legal costs. I still will appeal to the court to demand moral compensation,” the activist said.     

Vahagn Minasyan was detained by the Police on August 23, 2013, outside the capital city Yerevan Municipality building, during a protest by the civic initiative that opposed the Yerevan public transport fare hikes.
