YEREVAN. – The ceremony of placing of flowers to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Eternal Flame was held Friday at the Victory Park in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, government members, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, and war veterans were on hand at the event which was held on the 69th anniversary of the victory that was achieved in the Second World War, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed (PHOTOS).

In addition, Armenian and Russian military servicemen held a small military parade at the event. 

More than 500,000 Armenians from Armenia and 100,000 others from the Armenian diaspora and the ex-USSR countries, including over 10,000 women—more than 4,000 from Armenia and close to 1,600 from Nagorno-Karabakh and the rest, from elsewhere—, had participated in World War II.
