YEREVAN. – The objective of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair James Warlick’s speech was not to publicize the new US policy on the Karabakh issue, but rather to resume discussions in the context of establishing peace, so that the residents of the countries that are parties to the conflict may be prepared for peace. 

US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern told the above-said to reporters on Friday.

“He [Warlick] considered that it would be useful to publicly repeat once again those six principles that are mentioned in the Minsk Group documents, so that the peoples of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, and Azerbaijan begin discussions around a peace agreement,” the American diplomat specifically stressed.

As reported earlier, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair James Warlick delivered a speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace on Wednesday, during which he presented the six key elements for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
