The Armenian Assembly of America welcomed adoption of the California State Assembly resolution recognizing the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
“We commend the California Assembly for today's decisive vote affirming the right of Artsakh to develop as a free and independent nation,” stated Assembly Western Region Manager Aline Maksoudian, who was on hand to witness the historic vote. “Today's action is particularly significant to Armenian-Americans who welcome this strong expression of American values," Maksoudian added.
"We want to extend our appreciation to Assembly Speaker John Perez for his support and recognize the dedicated efforts of State Assembly Members Mike Gatto, Scott Wilk, Adrin Nazarian and Katcho Achadjian.”
On Thursday the California State Assembly, by a vote of 70-1, recognized the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, encouraging and supportingNKR's continuing efforts to develop as a free and independent nation.
