YEREVAN. – French President François Hollande, who is in Armenia on a state visit, expressed a wish to revisit Armenia in 2015, to participate in the commemorations for the centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated the aforementioned at Tuesday’s joint news conference of the two presidents.
“I was planning to invite you to Armenia, to attend the Armenian Genocide 100th anniversary events in 2015. We highly appreciate the fact that you yourself have proposed this,” Sargsyan told Hollande.
In addition, the Armenia President expressed gratitude to France not solely for recognizing and condemning the Genocide, but for taking the initiative toward the punishment of Genocide denialism.
“We need to be alert and vigilant, since impunity gives rise to new crimes,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
