YEREVAN. – France has good relations with all three countries in the region, Francois Hollande said in Yerevan.
Official Paris wants peace and friendship, especially with Armenia, France will always be by her side, President said summing up talks with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan.
Speaking about long-standing historical ties between Armenia and France, Hollande noted the significant role of Armenian community in France.
“They are French, but they have a special link with the homeland, “ he emphasized.
French President also reminded that Armenia is a member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie. In Armenia it is possible to learn French from kindergarten to the French University which together with the Lyon university is training specialists capable of working in both countries.
Francois Hollande reiterated plans to visit Yerevan on the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide in Turkey, which will be marked on April 24, 2015. The French leader is going to be in Yerevan “ to remember terrible Yeghern and to address words of peace and reconciliation to a nation that had to endure so much suffering”.
“But this will also be words to the world so that such horrors could not repeat in the future. It is our responsibility, especially of France, not to allow this happen again,” he added.
