YEREVAN. – The international recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR)—or Artsakh—will have a positive impact on the settlement of the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, NKR Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan told Karabakh-open.info.

As per Mirzoyan, NKR’s international recognition will enable to focus on creating mechanisms and conditions that are needed for a peaceful coexistence between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.

“NKR’s international recognition will ensure the irreversibility of the peace process, and it will become a signal, for official Baku, for the inadmissibility of the use of force or the threat of force,” the NKR FM stressed.

Mirzoyan also noted that there is a positive trend in recent years in terms of NKR’s international recognition process, the NKR authorities attach great importance to decentralized cooperation between the Karabakh and foreign cities, and that the other important direction is interparliamentary cooperation.

“It is apparent that the international community has a growingly greater sympathy towards the people of Artsakh’s aspirations for freedom, and it comes to the conclusion that the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic deserves to become a full member of the civilized states,” Karen Mirzoyan stated.
