YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia wants a balance in the country’s consumer market, non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP Mikayel Melkumyan told reporters on Friday.

He noted the abovementioned commenting on Wednesday’s meeting between Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and representatives of the country’s big businesses.

“Manifesting a political will several years ago, the government set a goal to reduce shadow [economy]. [But] the government didn’t do that, and, now, it just hinges on the need to redistribute income so that the purchasing power increases in the republic,” Melkumyan stressed.

During his talk with Armenia’s huge businessmen, PM Abrahamyan had said that the conditions for conducting business in Armenia should be equal for everyone.
