YEREVAN. – The National Assembly (NA) of Armenia on Wednesday rejected the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun MPs’ bill on foregoing the majority election system in the country.
The bill did not pass by a vote of 53 for, 66 against, and three abstentions. Solely the ruling Republican Party NA Faction members voted against the bill, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed.
The explanatory section of the bill had noted that the majority election system in Armenia has turned into a mechanism whereby those who are faithful to the authorities enter the parliament by making use of administrative and financial resources.
