YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Customs Union (CU) accession process has caused the suspension of some European projects in the country. 

Ambassador Traian Hristea, who is Head of the Delegation of the EU to Armenia, told the aforementioned at Wednesday’s public discussions titled “EU Enlargement 10th anniversary.”  

Nonetheless, as per Hristea, the civil society support programs in Armenia, or the direct funding programs to the country, are expanding. 

Following the talks that were held on September 3, 2013 in Moscow between Armenian and Russian Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, Sargsyan had announced that Armenia plans to join the Customs Union. All documents pertaining to Armenia’s joining the CU are expected to be signed by no later than June 1. Aside from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan likewise are members in the Customs Union.
