YEREVAN. – Suspect in shooting near Yerevan open-air souvenir market Gor Arakelyan has been arrested and charged with hooliganism and illegal possession of arms, a source told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Gor Arakelyan, a son-in-law of Prosperous Armenia MP Karo Karapetyan, turned himself to police on Sunday.

As infirmed earlier, Armenian police reported about a shootout in the center of Yerevan on Saturday afternoon. Five people were injured and were immediately taken to the hospital. A criminal case on charges of illegal possession of arms and hooliganism was instituted.

According to some reports, the argument and a scuffle broke out because of a parking place. The son-in-law of the MP decided “to settle the dispute” by firing at offenders and passers-by.
